2027 SJK(C) curriculum: what the Chinese-period clarification means for Kajang parents
Ten Chinese periods is a minimum, not a fixed timetable for every school. Wait for your school’s final arrangements before changing pickup or care plans.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh clarified the planned 2027 Year 1 curriculum on 26 October. For Kajang families, the distinction between a national minimum and a school’s final timetable is important.
Checked: 27 October 2026 · Malaysia time. Clarification reported on 26 October.
Reported clarification
What has been clarified?
The main mother-tongue subject’s weekly minimum changes from 12 to 10 periods in each stream: Chinese at SJK(C), Bahasa Melayu at SK and Tamil at SJK(T). Principals may add periods while meeting other curriculum minima.
An understanding with Chinese-primary-school principals’ organisations gives priority to Chinese for two of any four or five added weekly periods. This is not a compulsory two-period addition. SJK(C) and SJK(T) retain Bahasa Melayu syllabuses and textbooks distinct from SK.
School arrangements still matter
Character building and Tasmik
The daily 15-minute character-building activity uses the school stream’s medium of instruction: Chinese at SJK(C).
For Muslim Year 1 pupils, two weekly Tasmik periods are described as a separately listed continuation of existing Quran-recitation guidance. Schools may consult Muslim families about after-dismissal arrangements, leaving other pupils’ normal timetable unaffected. Confirm the actual arrangements with the school.

Three things to confirm with your school
These practical questions help families plan without guessing.
Final Year 1 timetable
Ask how many Chinese periods the school will actually provide.
Dismissal and collection
Confirm the session and collection time before changing transport.
Relevant additional arrangements
Ask about school-specific Tasmik arrangements where applicable and any parent notices.
Plan learning support around confirmed needs
A school timetable helps families balance lessons, rest and after-school support. myKiwi families can share confirmed notices with the centre before discussing Chinese, Bahasa Melayu or homework guidance. No new myKiwi timetable is announced here.

Keep reading and conversation part of everyday life
While schools finalise arrangements, families can maintain a manageable reading routine, invite questions and talk about respect and responsibility. These are family suggestions, not new curriculum requirements.

Dates and notices to watch
This update does not establish a school-specific timetable.
- A KPM professional circular is expected in November or early December 2026; no exact publication date was reported.
- Previously announced: Yu Hua Parent–Child 3C Literacy Talk, 31 October, 10am–1pm. Reconfirm with the organiser; its registration page could not be rechecked for this article.
- No newly verified public event for Sungai Chua is included in this update. This does not mean the school has issued no notices.
For Yu Hua and Sungai Chua families
Wait for your child’s school to confirm its timetable. Contact myKiwi in Taman Saga Emas, Kajang, to discuss daycare and tuition needs after those details are available. Transport, hours and availability require confirmation. myKiwi is not speaking on behalf of either school.
Use the school’s confirmed timetable to plan your child’s day.
