19 October 2026: Indonesia haze update and KPM assessment reporting deadlines
What the regional haze situation and new reporting deadlines mean for families from SJK(C) Yu Hua and SJK(C) Sungai Chua.

Two separate developments matter to Kajang families: Indonesia has reported a sharp rise in satellite hotspots, while Malaysia’s Education Ministry has extended assessment mark-entry deadlines after haze disruption.
Neither development supplies a replacement examination timetable for your child. Use your school’s confirmed notices when arranging attendance, revision and transport.

Indonesia: hotspots rise to 1,104
The report, citing Indonesia’s Forestry Ministry, records 1,104 hotspots on 18 October compared with 270 on 17 October. Central Kalimantan increased from 92 to 495; West Kalimantan from 22 to 174; and South Sumatra from nine to 51.
Hotspots are satellite indications of possible fires, not a count of separate confirmed forest fires.

Firefighting continues on the ground and by air
The same report says 61 aircraft remained deployed in Central and West Kalimantan: 44 for water bombing and 17 for aerial patrols and weather modification. Air quality across much of Central Kalimantan was described as very unhealthy to hazardous.

ASMC: severe transboundary haze remains a risk
ASMC displays Alert Level 3. Its assessment describes moderate to dense smoke over parts of Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, Kalimantan and western Sarawak. Thick smoke and cloud cover obscure some satellite observations.
Rain may improve affected areas, but prolonged dry conditions sustain the risk elsewhere. Increased showers towards the end of October could help; ASMC gives no firm date for the haze to end.

KPM extends MOEIS mark-entry deadlines
These are deadlines for schools to enter assessment marks into MOEIS. They are not examination dates for pupils.
| Assessment | Previous deadline | New deadline |
|---|---|---|
| UASA | 21 November 2026 | 28 November 2026 |
| PAT/PASA | 21 November 2026 | 28 November 2026 |
| PAJSK | 30 November 2026 | 5 December 2026 |
The extension addresses assessments disrupted by haze. Neither Yu Hua’s nor Sungai Chua’s revised examination timetable was separately verified.
Three different kinds of information
Keeping them separate helps parents avoid unnecessary changes to children’s routines.
Regional haze
Indonesian fire figures explain the wider situation; they do not announce school closures in Kajang.
School instructions
Attendance and revised assessments depend on current notices from your child’s school.
Reporting deadlines
28 November and 5 December are mark-entry deadlines, not dates to put into a child’s exam timetable.
What this means for Yu Hua and Sungai Chua families
No new school-specific notice or replacement timetable was independently verified for this update. Public social-media coverage was incomplete. That does not mean either school issued no announcement. Confirm instructions directly with the school before changing revision or pickup plans.
